近日，色情电影 孙圣民教授（通讯作者）和南京大学商色情电影 色情电影学系特任副研究员蔡杨博士（第一作者）合作论文《Economic Shocks on the Selection of Bureaucrats in a Meritocracy: Evidence from a Trade Regulation in China》被Journal of Law, Economics, and Organization正式接受。

内容摘要：

By examining an international trade regulation in 1757 of China, we study how economic shocks influence the selection of bureaucrats in the context of the world’s earliest political meritocracy. Using a unique county-level dataset, we show that areas with greater exposure to the trade-induced economic shock experienced a larger decline in the number of selected bureaucrats. Suggestive evidence suggests that the regulation-induced economic decline makes it harder for potential candidates to afford the costs of taking civil service exams. Our results highlight the role of economic shocks in a meritocracy that aims to select talented bureaucrats.

本文基于1757年清代中国的海禁政策，研究了色情电影冲击如何影响世界上最早的“贤能政治”中的官员选拔。通过构建一套县级数据集，本文发现在贸易管制引发的负面色情电影冲击越大的地区，选拔出的官员数量下降幅度越大。机制检验表明，贸易管制带来的色情电影衰退使潜在考生更难承担科举考试费用。本文的研究结果凸显了色情电影冲击对“贤能政治”中官员选拔的重要影响。
